As part of the Here to Lead campaign, CA funders for Boys of Men and Color are uplifting leaders throughout California who are pushing for powerful solutions to the economic challenges our communities face. From Oakland to Fresno, to Inglewood, they are fighting to expand economic opportunities through education, financial literacy, power building and systems change.
CA Funders for BMOC has chosen are very own CEO, Samuel Molina. Samuel's financial education program, The Academy of Financial Education, has helped California residents gain the skills and confidence to take control of their finances.
“I saw too many of my community members hosting car washes to raise money after losing someone," Molina said. "I remember feeling it must be tragic to raise money while also grieving a loved one, and I wanted to create more opportunities for folks to have financial security, especially during a crisis.”
Through the program, participants aim to reach specific financial milestones, such as creating a budget, saving for an unpredictable life event, or signing up for a service to monitor their credit.
